Here's an example of a recruit who chose Google over Microsoft. One reason for her choice is that Google is perceived to be less "evil".
And finally, let's face it: it's nice not working for the "evil" empire. ... It's nice working for a company that you can really feel good about - and that actively remembers to not be "evil."
The Don't Be Evil culture is a powerful recruiting tool across the board -- for executives like Kai-Fu Lee, and also for entry-level developers.
